Stephen Colbert Headed for an "Undisclosed Location"

Podcast_Colbert Stephen Colbert, the host of "The Colbert Report" on Comedy Central, talks to Ward about his upcoming trip to Iraq, er, an "undisclosed location somewhere near the Persian Gulf" where he intends to broadcast his show for four, er, several days. Stephen also talks about the Donors Choose charity and how he hopes to use it to help military dependents.

And find out more about "The Colbert Report" and Donors Choose here.

In my opinion, a very brave effort from an entertainer who cares more about our livelihood than him simply making us laugh.

With Colbert, I'd check that this is not merely a juicy worm on a nice, shiny, sharp hook served up just for you.

I enjoyed the interview. Thank you for posting this. He makes a very great point about how the media has lost its focus on the men and women on the ground, and their families waiting for the safe return of love ones.

I checked the Donors Choose website just after hearing the interview, and the total is over $20,000.

Whether we agree with his politics, he certainly is doing a great thing for the men, women and their families.

What a great cause! Right now the Marines are ahead, and the total is $25, 034. Wahoo.

Although Colbert's character is glib and shallow, I think it's obvious that Colbert respects and supports the troops and their families. Aside from Donors Choose, Colbert's Wrist Strong campaign raised over $170K for the Yellow Ribbon Campaign.

Thanks for posting this!

Whether you're North or South Korean, conservative, or a tax dollar throwing crew member of Nancy Pelosi's Pirates, it's a darn good thing Colbert's doing. Dude makes me laugh looong time!

it's nice that he now claim's to "support" the troops but where has he been since 9/11 when he has done nothing but yammer about how great the taliban is.

joey,

Obviously, we're not watching the same show. Please go troll somewhere else.

joey:

Please point to the episode where Colbert sang the praises of the Taliban. And for your information Colbert has brought in hundreds of thousands of dollars in support of the troops and their families and never, ever says or does anything which would denigrate those who serve. He serves up sharp humor, satire, and hilarious self-parodies, but he shows the troops respect and love.

Stop whining.

Who is Steven Colbert ?

Steve Colbert is funny and is head and shoulders better than Stewart. Even when I disagree with him, he makes me laugh. Too bad that space shuttle could not be named after him.

Colbert has done more for the troops than Hanity, Beck and all the other "fair and balanced" patriots. Colbert is smart, hilarious and tells the truth.

Steven Colbert has in fact supported our troops since the boots hit ground, sometimes at his own expense. Even if he pokes fun at the Commander and Chief, the support of the troops and families has always shown.

Joey, it's nice to see that you have enough free time to degrade a supporter like this. It's time you thank a service member and their family for that luxery! BTW, get a sense of humor - Colbert is one of the greats!

Stephen Colbert and Jon Stewart are among the very few patriots in the media.

We need more of their honesty, insightfulness and unflinching reporting.

Both are unwavering in their support of our troops and our constitution.

Both feel we should return to being the America most of us grew up believing in.

Both of them make me laugh and think.

Godspeed and long life to both of them!

Stephen, make sure you're double-breasted and kevlar-kapped!!

Colbert, pronounced Coal-Burt is a highly valued target and a media darling. We need our heroes. I say we stage an abduction and ransome him. All proceeds less overhead = (my idea fee), to go to military families etc. But who would pay up??

I used to watch him a lot, but I gave up cable tv due to expenses. Still, he is a very funny-tongue in cheek individual, even if it all just an act. Very insightful when he said that the war must be over since it's not in the news anymore (obviously because the media doesn't have an fail America mentality with Pres Obama elected).

BTW: Sean, I know for a fact Hannity contributes/raises thousands of dollars for causes that support the troops so I don't know what tree you are barking up.

Kevin: You're retarded. Colbert: You're the man.

Steph..un..Kol bearr..has kind of been a darker Jon Stewart.. he always at least gets a chukkle from me...and now I know what he is doing for the foot soldiers..he will get belly laughs..Gotta love em...Even if he's republican't..God Bless.

THANK YOU MR. COLBERT,FOR SUPPORTING OUR TROOPS. PLEASE BE SAFE. GOD BLESS YOU.

Cool!

CHEERS!

Stephen is a STAUNCH supporter of our military and our families.

HE PUTS HIS $$$ WHERE HIS MOUTH IS.

Thank you so much Colbert we have 300 troops coming back on 7/19/09 and the yellow ribbon program is helping us with the coming home, God bless you Colbert Nation.

Stephen Colbert has raised over $178,000 for the troops.
The full episodes on Comedy Central for June 8 and 9 were a real hoot.
Thanks, Colbert for supporting the troops!
